We chat with Maggie about her unwavering positive spirit, and the top three tips she’d give to young gymnasts on how to remain positive in the gym. 

How did a positive attitude influence your gymnastics ?

Gymnastics is such a challenging sport every single day and having a positive attitude will help you overcome the difficulties you're facing. Having a positive attitude will also influence your teammates in a positive way.
How did you remain positive throughout your career?
I believe the way I remained positive throughout my career was because of my support system and from setting big goals for myself. I am a very goal-oriented person and want to achieve everything I set out for myself. With that, I knew having a positive attitude would help me achieve my goals and dreams.
What three tips would you give young gymnasts for feeling more positive in the gym?

  1. Trust. Trust yourself and trust your coaches. You have put in the work in the gym, and you can do whatever you set your mind to if you believe in yourself. 
  2. Confidence. Having confidence in yourself and in your gymnastics is ideal when competing. 
  3. Patience. Nothing in gymnastics is going to be easy.  It is going to take a lot of time to get where you want to be. Be patient in the process and enjoy every minute of it, even if it's hard!
